Who hates being caught whilst posting neighbours cards? Is it just me? I even get the card at the right angle so it slips through easy and I can make my getaway! Do I have a problem. One of the neighbours cards was too big, so I panicked a bit and wedged it in the opening of the door lol!!! xxxx

I was brave this year went round in daylight, was doing well dropping cards in walking extremely fast to next one, got to my next to last card dropped it in the 'pretend' post box on the wall only to hear the door being opened - now what do I do? run fast to avoid them pretending I never heard door or say hello - I did do the right thing and said hello, only to get invited in, a tour of each room - all newly decorated you see and an half hour chat about kids and santa only escaped because they were planning a shopping trip!
Then there are the ones with dogs you can't do them without the dog letting all the neighbourhood know what your doing.
Ah well we must all have christmas spirit because we send them cards but who knows why we want to do it without being spotted.

Its been such a relief reading all your answers to this Q. Posting neighbours Christmas cards was a really anxious time for me I used to pay the paper boy to do it for me as I hated to be seen. I always waited until it was dark and hid behind walls and bushes till the coast was clear. It doesn't affect me much now as my house is just in a small hamlet of 6 cottages, but where I lived before was an estate with neighbours everywhere.
This is such a relief to read this!!
I have been putting off posting the neighbours' cards, but braved it the other night. I rushed up and put the cards through rapidly in case the noise made them come to the door - pathetic!
I wonder what it is that makes us all like this? I'm just pleased to know it isn't just me!

i have just returned from the dreaded posting letters trip. unfortunately i am returning with a broken thumb...no i did not forget to take my thumb out of the letter box in the attempt to run (although that would have been extremely funny) but instead managed to fall down a flight on 5 steps(they werent there last time i dared venture into the 'outback'. i lay at the bottom of the steps in a heap with letters scattered around me not crying but laughing, all that was going through my mind was if you lot could see me now hehe!!! please beware wen posting letters fello peeps!!
Well, I never knew there was a word for this *phobia*.... brilliant.... but my added tack is that I never used to give cards to all of my neighbours..... so I just used to do one at a time, in case the ones not receiving cards thought, "oh yeah, what's she up to ..... where's ours ????"

A 'dreadful' thing happened last night. I went out with a card to someone I hadn't posted one to before. I braved the steps up to his front door in the pitch black (the steps (about 8 of them) are really old and in the process of being demolished and are covered in mud), only to find that there wasn't a postbox. So I had to brave the steps back down again and creep through a gate to the back door, all the time looking to see if I was being watched. Got to the back door and, guess what, no postbox!!!. I had the dogs with me so it was getting to be quite an expedition.
In the end, I had to knock on the door with my fist (no knocker or bell)!!! By this time it was nearly a nervous breakdown, especially as the dogs started barking as I knocked on the door!
Anyway, when he opened the door we did have quite a laugh about it all, although I daren't mention my postaphobia!!!
Apparently, there is a post box of sorts down by the front gate hidden behind a bush that the postman is aware of!!!!!
By the way, I was killing myself laughing yesterday afternoon at all the ladies creeping round the town in the dark clutching their little pile of cards in their hand!!
Ha, ha. Christmas has taken on a new meaning for me!!!
