A term used exclusively in the Bordeaux wine-making region, what word describes an oversize bottle, holding up to 6 litres, or eight ordinary bottles, in which clarets of great years are laid down for slower development and longer life ?

I have a poss ans of 8 letters begining with 'i' but have doubts this is the correct ans. Any ideas folks ?

You're right if the word you've got is Imperial ( although I think it's called Imperiale ( 9 letters ) in France.
