Does anyone know the name of the "charm" which Jewish people hang outside their door.

Mezuzah.

It a Mezuzah, it holds the prayer called the 'Shema', if you google that, you'll be able to see what it says,
Its also put on the door frames inside the house, except the toilet.

I don't have that much time to explain properly, but this link will.
