Indecent assault
I was convicted over 40 years ago for indecent assault at the age of 16. Will this remain on my file or can it be removed. The fine was �5 and it was in juvenile court

I have read this link but it seems that this will stay on file for as long as I live according to the information.
I find this very unfair and it could stop me from working abroad, as some countries ask for this form to be produced before you can work there.
As I do work in a lot of different countries then this could take away my chances of work. The matter in question was not as it seems but the law looked at it diffferently.

Put your mind at rest - I doubt very much your conviction ever got on to any police computer.
If you wish to find out about your record, perhaps before you agree to a Disclosure check, you can carry out a �subject access� check on yourself under the Data Protection Act. To do this, you need to obtain a subject access form from the police. You can obtain the form by contacting your local police headquarters or by going on to the police force�s website. Some police stations also have copies of the forms. The checks cost �10, but can take up to 40 days to complete.

I think I sympathise but it looks like the scripted file got transferred to tape properly. I don't see an answer other than a sympathetic employer.
Hoppa. May be you should come clean and hope the prospective employer is reasonable and takes you on with confidence of course.
This allows you a job and a clear conscience for truthfulness which could be seen as a virtue.
