Is this a cynical attempt by the Muslims in Africa getting jealous of their Muslim brethren in the Middle East and trying to get themselves on TV? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/711292 9.stm

What kind of half wit these days doesn't realise that any mention of the name Mohamed by a westerner will have the muslims baying for blood and beheadings?
I mean, she's living, and teaching (and I thought that teachers were clever) in a predominatly muslim country and she name a teddy bear Mohamed? ffs, she brought it on herself.
Stupid woman, she deserves all she gets

Actually, she didn't name it - the children thought of 8 names and then 20 out of 23 voted on Mohammed.

Is it just me who wants to say Look, I'd had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was: "That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah"
TBH that would be exactly the same reaction that Christians in the UK wouldve had 400-500 years ago if someone named a teddy after Jesus.

Islam is 'enjoying' a period of medieval style religious fundamentalism just as Christianity did. it wont last, in a few hundred years time interest will wear out and they'll all be lax disinterested muslims with only small pockets of resistance. We'll all be living in fear of some crazy other religion then, maybe obscure 80s cartoon charachter, Aubrey will make a semi-convincing second coming in full CGI as the new messiah.
Even the most stupid person knows that muslims do not believe in idols. That is why they get upset about Danish cartoons. Did she not notice there was no pictures of the prophet Mohammed in the country where she was working. She could not have been a very good teacher if she did not know this basic thing about the country and its culture where she was working.

If a muslim teacher from Sudan, teaching in the UK, called the school pet Guinea Pig - "Satan" there would be an outcry. She would not be arrested because we have freedom of speech and no religious police, but I am sure you would be on here denouncing her and so would the Daily Mail.

She will get deported and sell her story to the Sun for XX,000 telling us of her hell. Dimwit.
We have a charity teddy bear every xmas that you can win if you name it correctly and no end of the guys have come in wanting to name it Mohammed :-)

gromit - how many people do you know called Satan?

Now think about how many people are called Mohammed (or variation) - you know Mohammed Al Fayed, Muhammed Ali etc

Mohammed is a perfectly acceptable name for a person. Dimwit
Bloody Islam, can't take a joke can they! This is just another example of the slightest thing being seen as an insult to the religion.

Remember when Nigeria was holding the Miss World Contest? Some hack intimated that Mohammed would be attracted by their beauty. Bloody riot! 200 dead, I don't get it, what was the insult? are they saying that Mohammed doesn't like girls? Get a sense of humour Islam please!
Perhaps it is for a person, but ant muslim worth his salt will be up in arms for calling anything other than a muslim man Mohamed

And what the heck is wrong with my eyes? I'm seeing everything apart from my first reply in italic?

It's all a big misunderstanding. It was never intended to be an image of the prophet mohammed - apprently he looks nothing like a bear.
It's just some bear who happens to be called mohammed. I'm sure once the authorities realise this it'll all blow over and they'll probably have a good laugh about how silly they've been.

The dimwit reference was for the woman not you. But seeing as you clearly do not know what a false Idol is, I am quite happy for it to apply to you and for you to be offended.

sorry Gromit :-(
Hmmm, so if the children named the teddy, does the coran say that they must be punished too?

Quote.

"Certainly she is also very worldly wise and she is obviously aware of the sensitivities around Islam."

Well, obviously not.

I don't know why we keep sending people to these 5hit holes where they oviously prefer to wallow in their mediaeval squalor. The school is now closed until January. What benefit is this to the children.

Drop an atom bomb on the place and do us all a favour.
I have to agree with Lucy. The words that dare not be spoken are, amongst others, 'Black, Arab, Muslim, White (ouch)'

It is beyond belief - but it is coming to Britain, really it is.
It's just a flippin name!! I used to be a nursery nurse, and we'd often get children to name school pets and things. It's a positive way to let children make decisions, and little children are not racist!!! I think it's a load of old sh1t!
