Can anyone identify this plant?

I know this is very much a long shot, but can anyone tell me what this plant is from the following info ....

it's an annual
it has a single stem with long slender leaves
the foliage is brown/bronze in colour
the stem terminates in a single reed/bulrush type of head
it is no taller than 3 feet

I save the seeds each year - from the reed/rush head - but I haven't a clue what this plant is - and I'd love to know!
