Hi, My car failed it's MOT almost two weeks ago, I took it away to another garage to have the repairs done and now need to return it to the first garage to get the partial MOT retest done. The first garage is closed this week however, and I have it booked in for the re-test on Monday morning but this is outwith the ten days I had to get the repairs done. The old MOT certificate has expired. Can I still legally drive the car?

As you say, the MOT has expired. If you drive the car you'll be driving without a valid MOT certificate and you'll probably invalidate your insurance in the event of an accident.

Think you can drive the car to the garage for a pre-booked MOT test.

You can only drive the car to a pre-booked test by the most direct route.

You have no valid MOT, and whether or not your preferred garage is open is irrelevant.

Thanks for your help, took the car to another garage for a full MOT today. I didn't want to have to pay the full fee again but the alternative is a lot more costly! Thanks again!
if you have a fail on your mot i think that you have to have another full mot they do not do partial mot`s any more?
