Hi, I'm looking to buy a laptop for home use (thinking Toshiba), it will be used for surfing the internet, sending emails, perhaps downloading music, maybe films, basically general use........ nothing high tech. Could someone recommend what specifications I should be looking for in terms of processor, RAM (which is best between 1024MB and 2GB??), hard disk space etc. What is more important between RAM and processor to ensure the computer not slowing down, quicker downloads. We're looking to spend up to 400 and the more we can get for our money, the better such as memory card slots, although memory card slot is not essential Or even exactly which laptop you would recommend. TIA

Personally speaking i would just get the most RAM you can and as much hard disk space as u can
If you want to watch films\video then you will probably need to go for a faster than average processor and at least 2GB of RAM, a large hard drive and a bigger than average screen.
If you don't want to store\watch movies then you would get away with a lower spec laptop (and hence cheaper).
