What are peoples views of murals?

I am looking at getting an ancient map of Europe in tea staned beige to fill an enire wall (about 14 feet long x 10 feet high).

There are three options available:

1) Wallpaper (the cheapest option) and if the lines are just a little out or the edges come undone the whole effect will be knackered)

2) A made to measure poster (medium priced). Advantages are no seems but there will be zero room for error and bubbles may appear.

3) Hire an artist to actually paint the map on to very fine canvas lining paper. I think for a half decent artist, it will be four time more than the middle option but will give a unique finish. Due to the ancient aura of the design, a few extra lines, splodges (especially with a tea stain effect) will only add to its charm.

I hope you know what I am harping on about as I can not post a link.

Thank you.

Where abouts is it going to be? In your home or somewhere else, i guess this needs to be taken into account before airing a view but I should imagine option 3 will be more expensive but it you were prepared to spend this you could go for options 1 or 2 carried out be a professional who should line up properly, without bubbles etc etc and whilst i will cost more to use a professional to fit these it would still be cheaper than option 3, but if its going somewhere public and money isn't an option then definately option 3 in my opinion would look the best particualrly if sealed afterwards so it can be wiped over from time to time and kept nice
Why?????

lol
Hi Bewlay Bros,
What a brilliant idea!
Can't advise of the cost, but if you get it done please will you post a picture on here for me to see?
Missy

ps. Have seen cloakrooms decorated with shipping charts and they looked really good. They were more of a collage though rather than one big one.

A dining room janet the flower, in a private abode.

Does the image sound acceptable?

I think it sounds nice - obviously you are going to have to keep that wall clutter and furniture free tho!!
I must admit I am not a lover of murals, especially inside.
It seems a large wall and will be a large mural.
Will it overpower the room?
Thinking about it, it may work as the country lines will form a sort of pattern. Splodges for the sea.
Is that the idea?

I really can not find a suitable picture to show you.

However, do I stick to non-satellite images. I mean, just look at scotland on this one. Its all wrong and Italy isn't as boot shaped.
Put some ducks on it like hildaOgden
