Hi,

What can anyone tell me about Sharm....?

The Boyf and I are off to do our PADI in June of next year and I'd like to get some feedback on the place...

As in is it better to go b&b or All Inclusive...?
What is the standard of restaurants in the resort?
What is the standard of food in the hotels?
What is the nightlife like?
Any hotels that can be recommended?
We want a decent hotel with alot of choice for food - I would hate to go to the same buffet every night..!

Any info would be appreciated..

Thank you

also the terroists like it there, plenty of bombs flying around.
Mt brother & his Girlfriend went in August. Stayed in a 5 star hotel & they as along with lots of others were ill all week. They hated Sharm as they found it aggressive..the trying to sell you stuff. ...I think you should make sure you choose accommodation that caters for scuba. Have a look on trip advisor.
Each to their own..Hope you enjoy. I feel tho you could go quite a few more places to learn padi tho.
hi. me and my boyf went there last may. we loved it! weather was great as was hotel. be warned tho, u WILL get a doggy belly!!! we went all inclusive-unfortunately our hotel didnt have a wide choice of food, so we found ourselves buying lunch now and then just so we can eat something different. plenty of trips to do-quadbiking through the desert is fun-but very hot! watch out for taxi drivers they will try to charge you more for taxi fares so check with your hotel first on what your ride should cost. some of the locals are very pervy-they like a blonde! and hassel you to buy something until you give in.

i looked on trip advisor before i went, but found very mixed reviews so was a bit worried when we arrived-loved it as soon as we got to hotel tho. enjoy for holiday! :-) x
My partner and I went AI to Sharm el Sheikh last Aug and would definitely recommend it, however buffet food is the norm when you go AI. Most hotels have a restaurant that you can book. We felt it was worthwhile to go AI as it was so hot we would have spent a lot of money on drinks too. I drank only bottled water, didn't eat salad and brushed my teeth with bottled water and had no dodgy stomach probs.
Clients of mine own the Four Seasons hotel at Sharm, so its the norm that I stay there. However, Ive also had occasion to stay at the Hyatt, where you can obtain your PADI certificate.

In the luxury hotels, using a full meal plan can be advantageous if your plans are to remain diving throughout the day. However, because there are so many external restaurants, your preference might be to explore.

Its a rather sad reality that you will not see that many nationals, instead more of a mix of Asian and Baltic employees around the hotel. The area is safe, the locals are lovely and if you want to live the experience, please do try to engage with one of the locals. You may be surprised that they end up inviting you to their homes!

I hope you have a great trip!

Not sure it will be worth your while to go AI unless you do your PADI at your hotel location. Food in Sharm is very cheap - hotel ratings are probably about one star lower than ours (ie, if it's listed as a 5* then you'd more likely rate it a 4*), however I've stayed in 3* hotels when diving out in Sharm and it's more than adequate.

Take a look at http://www.explorers.co.uk/ where you can book the whole package in one go - would suggest you make a request for Jilly or Steve (both English) as both of them have instructed me and are very good teachers :-)
