definitely a food as it's a sauce. would you drink it?

Hmm, would you put some sugar in it and dunk in a chocolate digestive??

There's your answer then ;-)

I would add a new category for sauces, which are more food than drink. Although some people drink beef stock which is a kind of gravy/sauce.
I wouldn't add sugar and dunk a digestive in my beer either
depends on who has made it and whether the spoon can stand up in it??
I'd have said drink though I'm not sure really. Mainly because most drinks are liquid's and I if I eat plainless chicken and I didn't have ebough gravy and the chicken was still in my mouth I wolud have tuck a sup of gravy so I'd have said Gravy is a drink. Though you wouldn't exactly drink it. But it isn't exactly food either.
