i lost my debit card,advice needed

i lost my debit card ,luckily my pin number wasnt lost, however..could someone please tell me how likely it is that someone will be able to spend on my card and get away with it .and if this occurs is there a way my debit card company can track the transactions and therefore catch the fraudsters

first port of call should be to your bank. They will advise what you need to do.

If you dont notify them straight away and someone does manage to use it the bank may refuse to recompense for the transaction and you may be out of pocket

Don't forget it is your responsibility to inform the bank immediately so the card can be stopped.

Yes definitely contact your bank. If someone unscrupulous has found it, they can do online shopping/gambling with your card without needing your pin number.

yes but is it likely that the bank or card provider will be able to track the fraudsters if they have made any purchases on my card ?
if it happened then yes! and they would prosecute,

if they shop online using my card ,is it likely that the card provider can trace them for stealing ?
I found someones card once still in a cash machine in debenhams, but i handed it in to nearest till point. Hopefully someone will hand yours in to someone instead of going on a shopping spree.
yes! and fraud is a very serious charge!

thanks for your help people. i was asking on behalf of a friend. luckily the card has been cancelled and no fraud has happened
