E-mailing photos

I have Outlook Express and Windows XP. For the last few months, I have been unable to e-mail photos. I continually time-out when sending. I have set my time out option for up to 5 minutes and have even tried to break up my messages into smaller packages but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

What format are the pictures in?  They should be jpeg for best results.  When new to all this computer lark I once sent a photo(fairly large) in Bitmap format.

 

It took 5 hours!

try using Mozilla Thunderbird instead. just as easy to use as OE, and available free. It also doesn't attract so many viruses!
