Right, I got Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town off iTunes, but it wasn't the version I wanted. The version I heard is not the full on Country version but a really stripped down , minimal version that I'm sure I heard originally. I trawled through a lot of the cover versions of the same song on iTunes but couldn't find it! Can anyone enlighten me as to whether it exists - and if so, what version I should be looking for and who it is by? many thanks

the original country hit was by johnny darrell in 1967, it was covered by waylon jennings in the same year. the international hit was by kenny rogers (and the 1st edition) in 1969, the song has also been covered by roger miller, gary holton, sort sol; and the killers recorded a live version for radio 1.
