Last Thursday my HCG levels were at 72,000, come yesterday (Monday) they have droppd to 57,000?? So unexpected! I have no pains but have been spotting lightly for the last several wks... hence why ive been monitoring my HCG on a weekly basis. Does this drop in HCG levels mean Im definitely having a miscarriage? :-(
I think Im 9-10wks pregant. I feel so sad as this will be my 3rd miscarriage this year.

how have you been checking your HCG levels yourself?

I found this but not sure if any help as your levels dont seem as high

"In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy"

taken from http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnan cy/hcglevels.html

are you being monitored and / or scanned early following your previous losses?

I have been getting my bloods tested thru my doctors weekly. I found out today about my HCG levels decrease and was told by my doctor that I will probably miscarry in the next couple of wks seeing as I havnt had any pains yet. She did advise me that if nothing passes thru, that i will by that time that ill hav to go in for a u/s. I want 2 request one sooner than that thou.

I really want to know whether anyone has eva been thru this situation.. & to hopefuly hear that there is still hope for a successful pregnancy.
ok id never suggest this to someone who just wanted an early scan but you sound desperate and understandably so.

Why not call your local hospital and Early pregnancy unit. Say youve had some pains and see if you can get them to give you an early scan rather than wait?

Im not sure if itd work or not but might be worth a try?

I dont know of anyone that has had this sort of results and the pregnancy has continued but i do know many women who had have multiple miscarriages and still gone on to have perfectly healthy babies.

I wish you luck

Funny that you say that because that actually crossd my mind tonight, popping into the Emergency rm. Im thinking my doctors not too keen on gettng me in for a scan any time soon as she seems pretty certain of a miscarriage taking place any time. I might actually wait on it for a couple of days and if i havnt had any painz I might just take a ride down to the hospital.

Thanks for your thoughts.

UPDATE!

I went for a scan yesterday expecting the worst as my last HCG level droppd from 57,000 to 55,000, & due 2 my Doctor & nurses advising me I had no hope of a successful pregnancy, I believed them. BUT the scan yesterday begged to differ! I am still pregnant! I am 11wks & 4 days, the foetus has a healthy heartbeat & everything seems 2 b on track as it shld be at this stage of the pregnancy. Reason for my HCG levels dropping was that i was carrying twins! I lost one of my angels :( but as gutted as I was to hear this I am at the same time so grateful & so blessed to still hav one!
