I have decided to cook the crackling separately from the joint of pork I have, and was wondering if I could do it in a frying pan?

Not heard of it done in a frying pan, but grilling it will do the job

Just thought it would be easier
I've just done some today, did it in the oven. I don't think I'd like to try frying it as I think it would spit and splatter everywhere.

How long for Val?
Years ago my Mum used to put the pork fat in the oven and render it down . This gave fat for cooking and the lovely crackling to crunch on . Just put it in the bottom of the oven an let it sozzle .
I think it was only in for about half an hour on 200,but it wasn't very thick and mine was already part cooked. Good Luck.

Thank you. Think I'll stick in in the oven with the spuds
Hi shaneystar2 you've got me reminiscing again,my mum used to do the same.
scooby get your joint which will have crackling fat on the top make sure its scored and dry,rub a little salt and vegetable oil on top, put in the oven at 200/220 degrees for 20 to 30minutes till crispy, then lower heat to 170degrees for about a hour, it depends on the weight of the piece of pork on long the cooking time will take!
Lol... Val.. as soon it was done we were like moths to a flame !
Lovely it was ..all that juicy fat and the crunchy crackling .

I can hear the cholesterol brigade shuddering as I type :))
