Anybody else notice how tabloid newspapers, the Daily Star in particular, find someone, anyone, turn them into a celebrity by reporting on their every single mundane act then suddenly try to sell even more papers by getting "exclusives" on them. Or is it just me?

Exactly. This is how the most of the tabloids now generate most of their stories nowadays! Sad but true!
The BBC make up their own stories as well. They commission a study into something and then report on the findings as though it were news.

They've been doing it for years - put someone on a pedestal & then knock them off it again. The truly depressing thing is - they wouldn't do it if it didn't sell...
Stoo_pid has hit the nail on the head. Newspapers only print what the populace will pay to read. if the customers didn't want to read what they print, it wouldn't be printed.

Its not just you, the star is good at doing this, take kelly brook the model they found and made famous who is now in hollywood making a mint, then theres lucy pinder also made famous by the star. At the end of the day they are not hurting anyone so its all good.

Unlike the 'sun' who as stoo_pid says- build people up and then kick 'em down, and basically stab everyone in the back just to sell papers. Which is why most of the shops in liverpool still refuse to sell it since the Hillsborough saga - and probably why the judas' rag is going for 25p HA HA.

Why do people buy these papers anyway.  I'm no snob or anything, but I can honestly say they I can't see that any of these papers have anything interesting to offer!  We keep complaining about the media, but still people keep buying the same trashy newspapers.
