I am in a crazy predicament here people... i need this answered quick...

I hit someone with my ford fiesta in the back of there VW polo, i pulled over exchanged my details and agreed with the driver that i will pay him cash because i dont want to claim off my insurance (Though i did'nt have any). The damage looked minor around 100, but when the guy got his quote it was around 2000 Ouch! 2000 is worth more that his R reg VW polo... I don't have 2000... I'm a student!

Anyway i agreed to pay him in instalments, My question is what is likely to happen if i don't, i'e after his insurance company relised i was not insured and i don't have a licence...

My test is in a few weeks and i think i should sit it and pass before i get roasted by authorities...

Is that wise?

Student ? What are you studying , pig sh*t ?
Acting like that you don't deserve an answer, don't expect sympathy here.
If not already done so, you do realise that you still have to report this accident to the police station don't you and they'll ask you for your details etc.

From a payment point of view I'd ask him for 3 quotes which is normal.

As for your licence - don't bother they'll revoke it anyway when they find out.

WHY were you driving without insurance in the first place??

Please give us an explanation for your stupidity !!!!!!
Oh come on folks, it's another wind up.

Under these circumstances I feel its best that you resolve payment as quickly as possible. However, as someone else contributed to this thread, it is customary to have more than one quote and you have every right to see those quotations. I cant comment on whether this is a fair amount or not. It may be that the car you struck had a custom finish on it, which could require that they repaint the entire caralthough this sounds doubtful.

Its also in my mind to ask if you actually acknowledged to the person you struck that you were indeed sans license and insurance? Sadly, there are people out there who might take advantage of such a predicament, which, in my opinion, no less minimises what you did, but adds to the equation that they are attempting to blackmail you. That is no less a crime than the ones you committed.

Make certain you see the quotes. (notice, that is plural). If the individual refuses, I might suggest that you make sure someone listens in on the call, just as insurance ( no pun intended) that the person you struck doesnt attempt to threaten or intimidate you in any way.

I am not here to judge. We all make errors in judgement, some more so than others. Im guessing that you are relatively young. If the victim is trying to hold you up, it may be an appropriate form of penance on your part to simply get it settled as quickly as possible, and use this experience to grow. And I would say, if this person is doing such a thingIm certain they will get their comeuppance in due course.

Years ago, the taxi driver who killed my wife and son, neither had insurance or sobriety. In many ways, you could consider your current circumstances fortunate!

I wish you every success
