I want to stretch my earlobes so I can put a plug in - not much tho, only up to 6mm. What I want to know is that if I have to take it out (for a wedding for example or if I change my mind) will the hole gradually return to its normal size? And if it doesnt, will it even be that noticable at 6mm? Thanks in advance!! PS: People who just want to answer to say how gross it is need not answer

Hi, I would say that as long as its heals properly it would work the same as just having your ear pierced, but I would suggest thinking very carefully about this as it is an irreversible thing and you may not like it years to come.
I've just looked on a ruler and 6mm would be rather noticible if it didn't heal over. The hole left would be the same size as the screwhead used in a light switch or plug socket if that helps!! Also when or if the hole healed if may leave a noticible scar instead. As hectic says think carefully before going ahead.
Back in my younger years I stretched my earlobes to about 8mm.You can take them out in the middle of stretching say for a few days but you need to keep the plug in for a few weeks beforehand. Also as a lubricant I found teetree oil the best. PS I hav'nt had a earplug for about 4 years now but I can still stick a cigarette through my earlobe(great party trick).
No the hole will not return to it's normal size although it may shrink a little. It will still be quite noticeable so think it through carefully.
If you are looking for information on how to stretch your lobes "correctly" then I can highly recommend that you visit the stretching forum found here: http://p196.ezboard.com/bbodypiercingtattooingandbodymodific ation Everyone is very friendly and helpful, there is also a stretching FAQ that answers the most commonly asked questions. If done correctly then your lobes will shrink down but everyone is different and some people heal more than others. I have had a 10mm hole heal down to 2mm in the past and it wont be that noticable at all because when you remove your jewelry it doesn't leave a hole but a slit instead.

Thanks everyone! Youve all been really helpful - I really cant decide - I run my own rockabilly business from home so its not like Id have a problem with jobs, but it seems like a big risk. Also, Im a girl and sometimes I think we can get away with as plugs can look like decorative button earrings(If theyre small!)? Im definately gonna have a long hard think about whether I want to do this. Definately liking that party trick though kjring
