It isn't true.

Only if you want to take him out of the country for a month or more do you need permission from the other parent.
I have just read your other thread, and noticed it isn't clear whether your partner was married to the childs mother, has parental responsibility or court order contact.

If not, PR and contact can be arranged through the family courts ~ as can regular holiday contact.

thanks pippa we have confronted her and asked who told her we couldnt take him away and she was a bit stuck for an answer. i did think we was allowed as my dad used to take us when we were kids even though mom wasnt to happy about it. Have told her we have seen a solicitor, not that we have but we have made an appointment, she seems a bit worried now as she knows we are right.
thanks for your advice
You are welcome!

Calling their bluff sometimes works...lol.

If you do take it to court (and I would) she would have to give a reasonable objection as to why your partner cannot take his son abroad for a week. Any judge in their right mind will see that a trip like this can only be beneficial to the child ~ and essentially this is what the judge is interested in.

Good luck ~ let us know how you get on, please :o)
