i assume we can all have a lie-in tomorrow (and on monday) as there's no way to mail entries. unless the telegraph shows some kind of imagination and lets us fax entries. pigs might fly.

im still going to do them and send them in, prob the papers will make allowances for the postal strikes.

you have more confidence than me
Somebody said that the deadlines for the Telegraph crosswords tomorrow and Monday have been extended to Friday. Makes sense.
Question Author
not really, catron, becos the postal strike doesn't end until thursday and unless we all use first class postage entries still won't get there. with the chaos by then, it's likely even first class stamps won't get an entry in by friday.
No, Sincnoel, the strikes end early Wednesday. Take your point about the backlog but if this deters people, perhaps those who do enter will have a better chance.

frankly, i object to using first class stamps for this sort of thing, anyway. think i'll just have a rest from xwords this weekend.
I appreciate that these crosswords all carry prizes for the winning entries, and we would all like to win at some point, but personally I find the greatest satisfaction is simply the challenge of completing the puzzles.
For this reason I will continue to do the crosswords as normal (S).
I do a 1000 xword every Saturday i do not send then in just like doing them i have never sent one in. cheersT
I do like the idea of faxing them in, what confusion that would cause!!
There were lunchtime collections today - I know because my local box was collected and I spoke to the collector. He informed me that the strike was from Thursday lunchtime to Saturday lunchtime, so they are now back at work but there will be another strike from Monday to Wednesday. He also told me that any boxes which usually have Sunday collections will definitely be collected tomorrow. Unfortunately there aren't any in my area.
