i'm just doing a bit of research and was wondering if pet owners (dog+cat) would spend a little extra and give their pet some decent healthy pet food as opposed to some of the bigger brand names that fill their food with junk??

hope people can help?

sainsburys own brand organic cat food is cheaper than some of the leading brands normal food. I have fed my cats the organic stuff, but it was based on price not because it was organic - one liked it the other hated it
I fed my border collie on James Wellbeloved food, yes it was more expensive but worth every penny.Ben passed away at almost sixteen years old and up to the last year was in wonderful condition, people could not believe his age.
what is the decent healthy pet food you want to do research on?

what are the questions you want answered at the end of the research and how long does the experiment last?
I feed my cats on Hills science plan diet thay are both healthy and lively this was recommended by the vet

Recommended by the vet? Wonder why? rolls eyes!

Anyways, i feed a natural/raw diet. If you want a wet food, the best is naturediet, dry i would usually recommend Burns but a new one has been brought to my attention which is Luaths

I think its better than Burns and if i fed a commercial diet, would probably choose it :-)
yep my two furkids get Burns too. Partly because I have standards and partly because I see what a difference it made to them both

thanks for all your opinions etc. I have heard of all these brands and it was what i thought.

i understand vets endorse hills science plan too!!

I have 3 persian cats at the moment who have all been fed Royal Canin Persian 30 since they were 12 weeks old. I
have tried various organic foods on my cats, but they wont touch it. I would not mind paying more for a TRULY organic cat food if I could get them to eat it. Perhaps it is easier to start them off on it when they are kittens.
Well I have fed Hills for 20 years and all my dogs have thrived on it The Nature Diet is free from colourings, preservatives etc, so I cant see what the problem is with it?

Irrespective if vets promote it, if you are not buying it from them what do they have to gain?

And what is this decent healthy pet food you want us all to buy, and which brand name is filled with junk - Pedigree Chum, Bakers...............?!
