Someone at work wants to give up, but can't use patches etc due to early stages of pregnancy. Has anyone tried hynotherapy? was it successful?

have known a few people to. they still smoke.
Although it's not the best idea to use patches during pregnancy, they're still a prefered option with doctors than the mother just smoking normally. Patches do contain nicotine, but the baby will be free from the tar and all the poisonous extra's including arsenic that ciggies have.
Not an answer to your question about hypnotherapy i know, but still a better option than not giving up at all.
I would have thought that being pregnant would of been the biggest motivation to give up smoking?

Just an observation
some midwives tell people not to give up as giving up puts more of a strain on baby
Oh God not another smoking thread....

They're making me want a cigarette!
That's true 4get, my sister in law is a midwife, and while she herself doesn't recommend that (she goes with the patch option as it's only the lack of nicotine that causes the problem) a few of the older midwives do.

If giving up were that easy, incentive or not, lots more people would be doing it, fathers to be included. At least your friend is making positive moves and i wish her luck.
And some midwifes tell you to give up 4get.

Who's right?

Who's wrong?

Either way, it comes down to the individual
lol me too China Doll and I quit ages ago!

I know a couple who used the hyponotherapy method. It worked for one of them and not the other. The one it didnt work for, didnt really want to quit. They were just doing in support of their partner. So I guess it only really works if your really want to quit.
If you was told that if you give up smoking, it will prolong your life by 10 years.

Would smokers give up?

The same i guess would apply to drinkers.

I have known 4 friends who have tried the hypnotherapy route for giving up smoking (all were heavy smokers) over the last 8yrs and in each case it was totally successful and none of them ever smoked again (nor wanted to). This encouraged me to save up the money to try it myself. I paid 145 for 3 sessions and it did nothing for me at all. Each time I came out wanting to smoke a cigarette, Id hold off for as long as I could but eventually gave in and had one. So, like most things, it works for some but not for others! (Though I will add that this person didnt come recommended to me which would probably have been a good idea, I couldn't use the one my friends had used as I'd moved away from London to the north of England)

No saying anyone is was just stating a fact thats why I said some so there could be some left to advise to stop :-)
thats a hard one laurance I dont think I want to be old anyway. I think that should be a new post very good question.
I tried it and it didn't work at all. A friend tried it and hasn't smoked since.
A friend of mine used hypnotherapy 3 years ago and has never had a smoke since , but she wanted to give up so it worked for her .
I really really wanted to give up or I wouldn't have paid the 145-00 that it took me forever to save!
