You'll be wasting your time and money if you are not in a freeview area. Check here:

If you are in a good freeview area, check the aerial before you do anything else.
eth is right

however
once you're certain that it's a weak signal
(try asking your neighbour - it's more original than the cup of sugar scam!!)

I'm using a strand Digital aerial + amplifier
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Strand-14184119-Aerial -Digital-6454/dp/B000HDXVZG

BUT - just because mine works well - doesn't mean yours will.

I'd be tempted to try currys comet or maplins so that if it doesn't work you don't have all the hassle of posting large boxes
Aerial boosters don't enhance a digital signal well enough to guarantee reliable reception. (You might think that you've solved the problem but as soon as you get a rain storm, heavy snow, high pressure or solar disturbances, your signal could start breaking up). You need to replace the aerial system.

The most widely recommended aerial, here on AB, is this one:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=p t18u&source=15&SD=Y
(If your aerial already matches that specification, check the links for 71, 83 or 91 element aerials on the left of that page).

When you change your aerial, make sure that the fitter changes the cable at the same time. (Cables designed for analogue systems usually have far higher signal losses than modern cables designed with digital reception in mind).
