Myself and partner ( with two young children) are in the process of buying our first home. We thought it best to just do the mortgage in my partners name as I have bad credit and am not working. However it occured to me today that I will therefore have no security or rights at all in having that as my home. Is it possible to be put on a mortgage in my situation even if I had a guarantor? Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure that it isn't the deed where your name needs to be. But you are right to be concerned as you would have no rights to the property in the event that you split up. I would suggest you seek some free legal advice from cab or from a solicitor, better safe than very, very sorry :-)
