My brother had been to Canada holiday and landed back on the 10/11, we had been out for lunch and had just got back I was on the phone to a friend of mine when my mum shouted upstairs SWITCH THE TV ON I saw tower one on fire and a cold shiver went down my spine.

My self and the person who I was on the phone to had been to NYC in 1998 and had been into the towers and up to the Restaurant at the top, I said to my friend in tears they say theres a plane crashed into one of the twin towers, we were both speechless, they had brought a TV into the office, but had not switched it on I screamed down the phone ANOTHER PLANE HAS JUST GONE INTO THE OTHER TOWER. I just couldnt control myself I began to cry.

Even now I get a lump in my throat and thinking about it. The photographs we took while in NYC were special when I took them they are even more special to me now.

Me and the mrs were in Dunster village shopping. It was like time stood still.
I was getting ready to go to work(managing a care home) I put the TV on in the bedroom then went for a shower, when i got back to the TV I saw the first plane hit, I remember just standing there dripping, once I got a grip of what was happening I panicked realising my best friend could be there as she's cabin crewe with BA and regularly did NY trips. I phoned her mobile and was relieved to hear that she was at home however she had not seen what was going on and then told me her Brother was in Manhattan he was working next door to the towers after several hours of trying to get through we heard he was safely evacuated.
Work that evening was surreal everyone was on auto and mostly glued to the news coverage.

Sorry donegal I didn't realise you were asking the same question, here is what I was doing on that day:
I had delivered a lecture to some recruits and sent them for a coffee break, I wandered into the Sgt's Mess and everyone was watching sky news, the first tower was up in smoke, someone told me that an aircraft had crashed into it, I asked "was it pilot error or what" just as the second airplane smashed int the building. I turned to my friend and said "well it looks like we're at war".
i was at home, day off work. id woke up early (which is usually highly unlikley to happen) mum and dad were watching it on tv. i remember a cold shiver running down my spine as the 2nd plane hit, like the news reporter said...that was no accident...
I had stopped off around 5 pm at a small hotel S of Bordeaux and went into the lounge. On the TV was a spectacular film. When the aircraft crashing into the Twin Towers was shown again, it dawned on me this was for real.
I was hiding in a classromm full of children George W Bush
