Just saw someone on the Elvis show BBC1 and he remined me of this person but no-one can get him from my description. It's driving us mad - can anyone help?

Can anyone put a name to this description?

A singer probaby early seventies
Dark hair - probably a bit of a quiff
Quite good looking
I think that he won New Faces or Opportunity Knocks but I can't find his name using Google - it may have been some other talent show
Not a major top 10 recording star but very popular with women which is what makes me think he came through a talent show
I am sure that his name was Tony but not 100%

I have a feeling that his surname ended in o, as in Tony Angelo or something like that.

you have got to admit that dot is good on cowboy stuff
Shes good on most things.
LOL well i can't remember him having any hit singles (to use an old phrase) but i do remember he was more of an album artist, easy listening stuff. berni flint was lovely though lol
Did he sing the song with the words, I feel I.
,m falling apart cause I know I,ve lost my guardian angel .Who was he ?
weecalf - Guardian Angel was sung by Nino De Angelo, a German (yes, really!) singer. That would have been more mid 80s than early 70s.

It wasn't the late and unfeasibly named Tony Monopoly was it? He won Opportunity Knocks in the 70s.
Ah hah! Found a picture of Mr Monopoly here if it helps:

Thanks very much everyone, especially Dot.Hawkes for coming up with it.

I think it was Tony Monopoly - I knew there were some o's in there somewhere.

There was a guy who won new faces or opportunity knocks who was popular but had no chart success, he called himself 'Tony Monopoly'. Ended up at Butlins I think.
