I am trying to free up some disk space (WinXP) using Add/Remove, and by far the biggest program is called "SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin" which occupies 1.844 GB. I do not remember installing this and want to remove it but am worried that it is linked to other programs or is an integral part of the OS. Does anyone know what this program is and if it is safe to remove?

There's no reason why removing Quicktracks should damage your OS, or any other programs. Here's what it is:
