does anyone know if it is possible to get a copy of the BBC series 'Mountain Men' which was broadcast sometime between 1986 and 1988

Kit Carson and the Mountain Men 1977 - not available Mountain Men movie with Charlton Heston is available on Amazon.com. If it is another movie altogether then sorry.

Thanks for that - it was actually a BBC series dramatising the major first ascents in mountaineering history which I am interested in, so if anyone has any ideas!?
