ethical and academic reference for credit?

Can anybody tell me whether I might be able to obtain credit as self-employed (starting out), as experienced professional age 50, so not a too good credit rating, bt with very promising intellectual property (book) about to be marketed, in discussion with international publishing house but no contract yet.? I have heard that some banks give 'professional oans' but nothing concrete, and my experinece with banks in this country is that as a mere mortal you only get the formalistic treatment (boxes to tick for critieria). Any suggestions very much appreciated

could try NAt West business banking but i don't fancy your chances - the likelyhood of publication is too dificult to quantify
