ill health retirement pensions

i took ill health retirement in 1988. i receive a monthly pension from the former electricity generating board.
i have to pay tax at normal rate
is there any tax benefit i can claim. my gross pension is �896 a month with tax of �87.

How old are you? If you are 65 you get a higher personal allowance.
