My neighbours (both in their mid 70's), bought an investment in SE approx 2003, receiving points. Apart from the initial free holiday in Tenerife and two 2-night stays at Cromer and Eastbourne in year 1, they have not used their points or sold them on. Now with ill health there is no possibility of using them in the future and of course they are faced with increasing annual maintenance costs. Is there any way of receiving a refund (eg is it possible to sell on the investment). I doubt this is possible, but what would happen if they just accepted the loss and stopped paying the annual maintenance. Any infor/exp greatly appreciated.

There's some sensible advice, together with a ink which might be useful, here:

Just be aware that there are a load of sharks out there offering to resell timeshare. Under no circumstances pat ANY money up front to organisations offering to sell the Points for them.
Stopping paying the maintenance may result in Sunterra threatening legal action against them. Its the usual tactic.
