Hi Neildownx, they are DVD+RW and have a sticker on them that says: before using this disc in a 2.4x DVD+RW data drive you need to check how to get the required firmware upgrade.
I am not that computer literate and its all greek to me!

I just thought you had to format them first.
I do not know regarding recording on a computer. But when I record on my DVD recorder, I have to wait a spell until it is ready to accept it for recording, no matter what type or make of disc it is. It states it is preparing the disc, so I persume that it is formating it.
