Gordon Brown should go back to Scotland and take all the Scots with him and let us get somebody English looking after us he was the Chancellor who controlled the purse strings Think of Northern Rock need i sat anymore !!!!!!
Could milliezoe perhaps be kind enough to explain how Gordon Brown's tenure as Chancellor has anything whatsoever to do with unfavourable lending conditions in the money markets for mortgage firms as a result of global stock market concerns in light of the dependence of the sector on sub-prime mortgages..?

Incidentally, whilst I agree with many of the issues raised by the West Lothian Question, I was under the impression that Gordon Brown was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and that therefore being a Scot was not a bar to office. Again, perhaps milliezoe could clarify?

I'd have to agree with Mani

Had he lived I think Robin Cook would have given him a good run for his money.

And blaming him for Northern Rock is plain daft - can you imagine the outcry if a politician started telling banks who they could and could not lend money to?

I can hear the screams of "Nanny State" from here!
do you know what the single most funniest thing about gordon brown being scottish is a problem for english people?

TONY ******* BLAIR IS SCOTTISH!!!!!

and no-one seemed to have a problem with him!

why are some people so bloody stupid and ignorant to think that because he is scottish he wants to do England wrong?
Yes, lets get someone English looking after us.
Anyone any ideas???????................................................
Who cares?

Every politician is the same, in the job for their own egos and not the good of the public.

Yawn.
Alasfoakus, I notice you only award stars to those who agree with you.
Did you really think about the question, for two long months, before posting?
Tony Blair was a great prime minister and Gordon Brown will be too.

I would hate to end up with "David, hug a hoody, jump on any bandwagon (i.e. Northern Rock) Cameron.
I had a problem wiyh Tony Blair, as has been said, he's Scottish, he surrounded himself with a likeminded Scottish cabinet, to govern the United Kingdom, he presided started the coming breakup of the United Kingdom,

I could go on, but we'd be here forever, the thing is, England as a whole, has never wanted to join Europe, Scotland always has,

Gordon Brown, as Chancellor, was the worst we'd had post war, as Prime Minister, he's Tony Blair in a different coat.
right fair enough if you dont think someone is a bad prime minister or a bad chancellor but what has that got to do with him being scottish? how many bad english pm's have there been? lets not forget good ol maggie aye?
Hi The Sherman,
I have no problem with him being Scottish, or any other nationality, my problem, as I said earlier, is the way he surrounded himself with like minded fellow Scots, with just a smattering of English, ones who wouldn't stand up to him.

And take the last General Election, in England and Wales, he lost, it was the Scottish vote that put him back in.
Apologies, I was talking about Blair, this post is about Brown, but he still hasn't done anything to redress the balance in major posts, except maybe Straw, and he's not worth two penn'orth.
