I have 2 cars one of which the MOT expires soon- this one just developed a few problems (such as erratic idling- Peugeot 106) but I don't have the time at the mo to sort it out. It is taxed up to feb 2008. Does anyone know if it can remain parked on the residential road (without being used) without an MOT?
Cheers, Jonny

Yes it can. Its only road tax that effects where it can be parked on the road.

As long as it is not moved you will be OK, as its illegal to use a motor vehuicle without a valid MOT.
To remain on a public road a motor vehicle must have insurance, tax and a valid MOT certificate. It must also be roadworthy ie good tyres. Leave it on a road and you risk a 60 fixed penalty. By leaving it long term on the road you may also be liable for the offence of "Causing unnecessary obstruction"
the car only needs road tax to sit on the road. but it needs a valid mot and relevant insurance cover in order for it to be driven on the road.
What rubish! a car needs MOT, Tax and insurance to be on a public highway full stop! its not just car accidents it insures you against, if someone cuts there leg on a parked car that has jagged edges they can claim against your car insurance!
