Do you have to go to university to become a succesful make u artist? i am currently studying a BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN MEDIA PRODUCTION and am not keen on going to university. i would much prefer to go on to do a course on make up. i have browsed the internet for answers and it has also mentioned that i may have to take a NVQ in BEAUTY THERAPY. is all this needed or can i go on a course or a apprantaship style course when i finsh this final year l college. HELP!

Have a look at the BBC website under "jobs". They do training schemes and work experience and could probably put you on the right track. However, if you want to be an expert in make up, you need to learn all about it. The best way to do this is to go on a further course- whether it is university or not. You could also look at a film or programme that features good/interesting make up and look at the credits to see who did the make up- and write to them. Ask their advice. Offer to work for them for free for a few weeks.
Nobody will take you on without you knowing what you are doing, so you definitely need more training.
