When we were on holiday in Devon last week I noticed stickers on the postboxes stating trhat the Sunday collection would be cancelled from the end of October. There was also a phone-in programme about it on Radio Devon and it seemd that the whole of Devon is affected and some regions beyond.I have not noticed anything on our postboxes yet.Has anyone else?If this is going to be a nationwide thing I hope the crossword puzzle people extend the last date of entry by at least a day

You should fight to retain all these things. Here in Portugal there are neither collections nor deliveries on either Saturdays or Sundays. I didn't appreciate the British Postal system until I didn't have it any more. You have to go miles to post a letter, too.
I have seen the notices here in Cardiff - no Sunday or bank holiday collections - Bl@@dy nuisance !
Yes - this is a national policy from our postal "service" which seems hell bent on self-destruction.
Just noticed this sticker here in Scotland this week and it seems like bad news for crossword/competition entrants. This means that on a holiday weekend, if I don't get my entries in by Saturday noon (last collection that day) they won't get sorted at the mail office until Tuesday evening - far too late for 2nd class post to guarantee reaching the paper, etc for Wednesday submissions and probably too late even for Thursdays. I used to think that posting early in the morning ensured that the entry was underway some time during the day but my friend in Royal Mail assures me that no sorting is done until the end of the collection day.
Yes they are here in Dorset too !
