i seem to be constantly battling with dry, red, botchy skin around my nose and eyebrows, when it gets worse it gets itchy and flakes a little. i've not always had this problem, and moisturising doesn't seem to help much. does anyone suffer similar symptoms, know what it is or how to cure it?

alan - Sounds like eczema, try E45 cream. Put it on neat before you go to bed, you can always wash it off before you go out in the morning, or you can apply a lighter layer for the day by putting a small pea sized amount in your hand and adding a little water.
I agree with skyep-have had same problem. Try E45 emolliant wash also-leaves a thin film on the skin of emolliant...keeps it soft and relieves the itchy feeling
Hi
I agree it sounds like eczema, which I am prone to in times of stress. I have found that e45 doesn't work for me any more than any other moisturiser, and the only thing that worked is 1% hydrocortisone cream, which you may have to get through your dr, but which cleared me up in two applications!
Try and get hold of a lotion called Double Base. You can get it at pharmacies and chemists. It's for dry, itchy skin and works wonder. I think it's mainly for psoriasis, which could also be what you're suffering from. My friend had quite bad psoriasis around her eyes and eyebrows and double base helped alot.

Also it might be worth picking up a small tin of vaseline and keeping it in your pocket, theyre about 1 in Boots or Superdrug. If the itching or flaking gets worse in the day just dab a bit of vaseline on and it will help for a bit.
