HI Guys, how do I run 2 computers off one broadband supply? My son keeps using mine and puts a load of 'rubbish' on it, he has a laptop of his own and he would probably want to use it in his bedroom which is next door to my computer.

A wireless router will be ideal. He can then use his laptop anywhere in the house - and if you feel you need to, you can disconnect his connection at bedtime.

I don't know how old he is - sorry if he is in his 30s. :)
Firstly you need a router, I personally prefer Linksys, but Netgear are also a good make. There are two types, depending on whether you have Cable broadband or ADSL (through the phone line).

You then need to connect both PC and laptop to the router, connection via cable is easier, but means running two cables, one to each computer, or it can be done wirelessly, which slightly more complicated, but assuming that the laptop is fairly new, it will already have wireless capability.

If you choose to cable both, then the wireless signal from the router can be switched off, preventing people from using your connection, if you use one to connect wirelessly, you will then need to enable security.

How old is your son

internet connection sharing requires your PC to be on as well .... a faff - but allows you to control his useage
