im wanting to book a holiday first week october. i do go away alot and when im ready to book a holiday,do a bit of research and then a hotel will catch my eye that is 'right' for us and we are not usually disappointed. my 'research' has shown that turkey seems to be shortest flight to best weather in october but we havent been before and i cant seem to find a hotel that 'hits me in the face'. i think kusadasi looks very nice but we like a central hotel overlooking sea. can anyone recomend one or suggest another country/resort for me to consider.thank you.

There are some great resorts in Turkey but it depends what you want. I've been going regularly to various parts of Turkey for 35 years and although I have travelled all over the world, I constantly get drawn back to Turkey at some point every year.

Kusadasi is a very big resort - rather commercialised. Bodrum are is popular. Kas is lovely & Kalkan, if you like smaller resorts. My favourite is the Antalya area. Apart from Antalya there are a number of resorts nearby - Side & Alanya for example. Have a look at the websites for Anatolian Sky or Metak - both specialise in Turkey & are old established companies. They would give you advice if you call them & tell them what you like.

Once you have decided on a resort, go on Tripadvisor for reviews of the hotels by people who have stayed there.
Another good site is this one (I've sent you straight to the Turkey forum but they do other countries as well): http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewforum.php?f =28
You will find it extremely helpful as people write hotel reviews and ask/answer all types of questions.
Take a look at Dalyan, Turkey. It is half an hour from Dalaman Airport and is in a nature reserve. It is very beautiful. It is not on the seafront but on a meandering river which leads to the sea through reeds. The African Queen was filmed there. Went last October and the weather was great.

An Hotel with a great view of the riverfront is called the New Gul.
