How to I permanently break up my allotment soil? I go over it with a rotavator but within weaks it clods-up again. Should I be adding something to it?

You need to fork it over, thoroughly - possibly the most boring, back-breaking garden task ever. But it's the best way to rejuvenate your soil.
If it is "clodding up" because of a high clay content then it doesn't matter how much you dig or rotovate. The only way is to introduce large amounts of organic material. Sharp sand will also help but don't add sand on its own or a cement-like mixture may result. Best time to do this is the autumn. It may take a couple of years of treatment to come good. You can also use chemicals but these tend to be detrimental to plants, affect soil ph etc.
