thank you for that. The fact is that King Rama of Thailand came to power in 1946, followed by our own Queen in 1952, then Castro in 1959, but if that is the answer she wants who am I to argue!!
I have got Robert Mugabe as longest world leader so we all have different ideas, have yet to find out about his longest address
Hi Pyjama, I am looking at what Jill may think of as a "World Leader"
Certainly, according to what I found Castro gave a four hour plus address at the UN once which, I belive still ranks as the longest.
Tell you one thing, either I am getting older or her quizzes are getting harder! regards Al
Hi,
First time I've had a go with Melksham Quiz, but I must admit I don't like the format - too many parts to questions with answers splitting over 2 lines. I thought the notes at the bottom of the page on Section 1 should have been at the top as I hadn't realised and found the full name of each wife etc.- I now know I should have read the whole thing first but I get excited when Mr. postman drops a quiz through the door. If this is the normal format, I doubt I will send for another. Can anybody else comment on my personal findings. Don't get me wrong, I don't like them to be easy and I like to do the research. Must admit lost interest and may not even send this one in!!
Hi There. Can understand where you are coming from but I am sorry I do not agree with you.
This is probably because I have been doing the quiz for so long I have got used to the format.
I know the lady that compiles them and it never ceases to amaze me about the amount of work she puts in.
Apart from the research, I like the quizzes because they are so varied.
However I realise that they may not be everyones cup of tea.
Needless to say she has raised 11,000 with her twice yearly quizzes.
Please do not think I am getting on at you as I am not. Just my opinions.
Take care and regards Al
Hi,
Sorry if I was sounding negative. It is brilliant that she has raised that amount and I praise anyone who has a go at putting a quiz together, it must be very difficult, probably even more so than us finding the answers. I will no doubt send for the next one as I like supporting the cause but I haven't enjoyed this as much as all the others I have done.
I hope I haven't caused offence, it wasn't my intention but it 's just my personal feelings.
Hi Furry, You have not offended me at all. I understood where you came from.
e.g I am no good at Cryptics, Ditloids ect so I love General Knowledge quizzes. Everone to the own.
Also if someone cant express their views its a sad old worlds aint it.
Take care Al
Incidentally I dont know where she gets the questions from as she is not very good on the internet.
Hi Al, 'tis I again. Thanks for your comments. I have to admit that she obviously does her home work and very well too. Tremendous that she's raised all that. I could do with some hints on how to set up a quiz for some fundraising. Anyway I'll not moan again, I don't usually, I must have been having an 'off day'. ttfn
Hi Furry, Very difficult but interesting compiling quizzes. More difficult with the advent of Google.
Make the questions varied.
Try to put a couple of catch questions in, otherwise you may end up with everyone getting 100%
Make sure answers are black and white.

Couple examples. What ship sent the first SOS. A few years ago everyone would have said Titanic but .......

Smallest City in UK. Alot of people dont realise that the answer is the City of London. So hopefully you would catch a few people out.

Always look at a few Google sites to ensure that the answer you have is correct

Finally, you are the question master and at the end of the day the final decision is yours.

Let me know if you ever do one. I will have a crack at it Rgds Al
Thanks for that useful info. I must just have a go, mind don't hold your breath it could be a long while coming. It's a good way of doing some fundraising though. Will keep you informed.
