I wouldn't say 'I don't think it's quite right', but white people with strong Carribean accents, like Chris Blackwell, who grew up in Jamaica and thus has a strong accent always take my by surprise when you first hear them, as you don't anticipate it.
I know what you mean Waldo, I chap I knew had a mate originally from Trinidad who was a London accountant, totally caucasian. I once played golf in a four ball with him and he unexpextedly sounded like Jim Davidsons Chalky character!
I encountered a a very tall, well built Sikh in a turban at Portsmouth Harbour trainstation and I expected him to have a deep, booming voice and an Indian accent. I was very surprised that his voice was relatively soft with a strong Hampshire Ooo Aar accent.
Once knew a Xtian with a sense of humour.
Don't know if this counts, but there's a band on the folk circuit who call themselves 'The Sex Patels'. I met them in June. They're all from the Bradford area, all have adopted the surname Patel and only one of them, I seem to recall, is of Asian descent.

All I had whilst waiting for them was a list of names, and it threw me for moment when the first guy, white and with no hint of an Asian connection, walked up and said his name was Patel.
I once heard of a Scotsman buying a round!
