When you type a new message there is an arrow between the options and eng hit your star button twice to remove this and you can type in lower text

some samsungs wont txt in lower case, but im not sure of yr model. have you thought of looking in the manual?

Thanks for the advice Potatoman! I haven't got the phone yet so don't have the manual either. I was actually asking to see if its possible before I decide to get it. I've only had Nokias for years but I'm bored of them now. Anyway, it says is my original question its the E600 I was wondering about...
