In a shop the other day I heard a version of this song done by a woman. It sounded quite modern, and was a full cover version (ie not the janet jackson song that used a sample from the track a couple of years ago). Does anyone have any ideas who did it?

I'm pretty sure, from the way you've described it, it'll be the paul hardcastle version.

It was the Paul Hardcastle version. I had initially discounted that from my search as I thought that would have to be a male singer. How confusing!
