Getting married on Saturday. Had the rehearsal last night which went well, though I was incredibly nervous. Can anyone recommend anything to settle nerves? The wife-to-be is a big believer in Rescue Remedy...

I'm sorry I've got nothing for nerves (well I have, but I'm a smoker and I would never advise taking it up just for nerves!!!) but I would like to say good luck and all the best for you and your soon to be wife.
I wouldn't go for drugs (sedatives) they might zonk u out...but sex is vg for settling nerves....otherwise breathing techniques...don't forget to breathe...or perhaps fool urself that u are invisible and no one can see u....or perhaps think of all the stuff ur giving up .....nights out with the boys whenevery u like...disposable income...that might take ur mind of nerves or even think of the happiness u are going to have further down the line...map out ur future....dont worry be happy.....good luck

I like the sex one.. breathing techniques I use all the time anyway lol. The nights out with the boys won't dry up, the wonders of a partner on shift work ;o) When a baby comes along, that's when my life as I know it ends ;o). Oh, and I smoke already but find it doesn't help with nerves nowadays :o( Just scrambles my brain!
Just focus on how happy your bride will be if you don't refer to her as "the wife" after you're married!

True, 'er indoors has such a better ring to it.
Seriously, my mum was advised to try Aconites, they're herbal tablets that settle a nervous tummy, they kind of take the butterflies away. Also, Calms are supposed to be quite good, but they're not herbal.
i used Kalms - well i say I - my cheif bridesmaid kept tipping them into to me every tome i neared hysteria!
Bach Rscue Remedy works for me. Good luck to you both.
I believe in rescue remedy too...but, just before my dad and I left for the church we each had a modest snort of vodka!!! My dad died more than 20 years ago now but I still remember that and smile...

A SNORT of vodka? Cripes. Heard that's supposed to be instant leglessness. Don't forget I have to do speak ;o). The vicar told us last night we're not allowed to drink beforehand as it's a legally binding thing. Killjoy. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
A wee glass of brandy does wonders. It doesn't upset your stomach - tends to settle it, in fact. I used to keep a wee bottle in my vestry at the church so that I could give a wee drop to bridegrooms if they were a bit nervous before the wedding. Don't worry about the wedding service - forget everything you ran through at the wedding rehearsal. It will all be there somewhere in your mind anyway - and if therer are any problems whoever is conducting the service will whisper anything you need to remember. Just enjoy!
We'll be thinking of you on saturday. remember to take the tags off your suit and the price off the bottom of your shoes
.....and don't upset the mother in law!!!
Congrats OBonio, how'd it go?

Just got back from honeymoon. It went very quickly but surely the happiest day of my life!! I took RevShirls advice in the end and had a couple of shots of neat brandy before the ceremony. Settled the stomach and calmed the nerves for a while. Had Rescue Remedy too, and Diah-Limit, just in case! Once the ceremony was done, everything else was plain sailing! I think my adrenal gland had shrivelled to the size of a pin head so I had no nerves for the speech really. Only a couple of mess ups by the hotel staff at the reception. No champagne to toast with, wedding cake wasn't brought out until 11pm (by which time most people had gone) and the flowers for the mum's weren't ready when I needed them for my speech.... Getting a 450 refund though, which will pay for the overdraft caused by the honeymoon.
Those are the kind of mess-ups that you'll think fondly of in a few years... "Remember when the wedding cake didn't show up, honey?" Best wishes to you!
