I am going to vegas and am wondering whether to take dollars, sterling, or travellers cheques would be very grateful for advice plus is it better to book trips there or over here same for shows thanks

Take dollars and a credit card use the card to get more money instead of cashing travellers cheques

That should be a DEBIT card if you don't want to rack up interest for withgdrawing cash.

Use the credit card to buy stuff in shops, etc

We went to Vegas recently and we took some dollars with us and thought we would be able to get money out of ATMs. There are loads in the casinos and hotels and we did see some outside of some shops, however we could not tell from the machines if or what we would be charged for using a Debit card in them, so we decided to find a Walmarts and used the ATM there and withdraw enough dollars to last us through the rest of the holiday. We booked our trip to the Hoover Dam and the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon here, but booked the show there by going direct to the hotel as we weren't sure until we got there what we fancied seeing. We're just back from Vegas too and we used travellers cheques. Make sure you buy them in dollars not sterling and they are changable in all the hotels and restaurants and places to book tours. The Americans use them too, so they are like cash to them.

I would book trips there, but go to the theatre or the place running the trip rather than a ticket agent. The hotel reception will help direct you.

Off topic - don't underestimate the heat at this time of the year! Don't try to pack too much into one day as it can zap your energy. Have a great time.
