Sound not playing through video recorder

We have recently installed our new fantastic TV but the video player does not record sound anymore.
We have our sound wired up through the DVD player and this used to play on the 'TV' setting, however now it only works through the 'VCR' setting - is this the problem?
Even when we turn the DVD sound off and just use the TV sound it still doesn't play this back on the video - please help - am going away this weekend and wanted to record something!!

Do you mean you have a VCR and a DVD Player connected together by SCART sockets ?
Your new TV will have at least two SCART sockets.
Your TV will be a digital tuner.
You will need to tune your analogue VCR to this new TV if it is not appearing in AV1 or AV2 automatically.

Right. I thought you knew what SCART connectors were.
If you are just looping the external aerial wire into the back of the VCR (Video Recorder) and then another RF link from the VCR to the aerial input on your TV you may need to retune the VCR to a frequency on the TV.
If you are using other thicker cables with a oblong connector these are SCART. Often you can lose sound if they are not seated correctly. Check that.
If you really have no idea what I mean you need the TV guy who sold the set as they generally do the installation for free.

As others have said I usually find that if the sound goes off from a video recording it has usually been either a loose fitting scart lead or a defective one.
