the second charge was owned by the greyhound bank who no longer trade as far as I can find out. the origional mortgage was with the leeds who were bought out by the halifax, they say that they know nothing about the second charge even though it is still on the deeds. Surely their legal team should have removed this when they took over the mortgage. the total to the grey hound was paid years ago.

If the second charge was made to secure a loan which has since been repaid, it should be a straightforward administrative matter to remove the charge, but a solicitor would need to deal with it to ensure the register is properly amended.
