A colleague of mine has a Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec v reg with a mileage of 43,000. The mechanism that makes the gearstick firm when in neutral has failed , it's as though a spring has broken. The gearbox works fine but the gearstick moves about when in neutral. Has anyone experienced something similar with this particular make and model and can tell me how to rectify this problem. Thanks.

Thanks Essex bloke. You wouldn't happen to know how to fit this spring , do you approach it from inside the car or is it a jack up job . Do you use standard tools or do you need a special purpose one. Thanks again.
